Which author would you love to have dinner with?

He’s not really an author but he did write his own autobiography, “Bibi”. Yes, the famous or infamous to some, benjamin netanyahu, the Israeli prime minister.

One of the reasons why I’m so interested in Israel is because I got to see Bibi from the early 2010 on the news where he explained the conflict between Gaza and Israel. At the time, I wasn’t really that interested in Israel itself. I was just watching the news like any other news.

But the introduction of iron dome at the time somehow caught my eyes. When I saw iron dome in action, I was thinking, oh that’s a cool defense weapon. And the more I saw it, the more I got fascinated by how it works and how it was saving millions of lives.

I remember grabbing my first generation Surface tablet and just reading the news about Israel and iron dome. That’s one cool ass defense tech, I thought.

Of course, after the conflict ended, I just went back to my life doing something else.

Then, when I was studying cybersecurity, I had inevitably come across articles about Israeli cyber security technology and firms. I think it was around 2015 or something.

I remember watching videos of Bibi explaining how Israel was going to be the best cybersecurity nation in the world. Even then I thought he was a cool guy. Since I was interested in cyber security, Israel and Bibi caught my attention.

Then, I started seeing news about Stuxnet and Pegasus. Hmm? They are made by the Israelis again?

Then, my interest became an intellectual obsession to find more about Israel. What is this country, and why is it so good at making things that are so sophisticated in technology and cyber?

I remember I did a grad school presentation on Israeli technology actually. That was a fun experience.

Anyway, back to my original question, why would I want to have a dinner with bibi?

Well, first of all, I am still reading his autobiography, so I want to ask him all sort of personal questions like what was he like growing up and what made him who he is today.

I know he used to be in special forces and his older brother had tragically died during a hostage rescue operation. He spent few years of his childhood in the US, and he chose MIT as his university because he wanted to study technology.

As a guy who’s also experienced in technology and military, I wanted to understand his thought process and how he became such a smart dedicated man.

I also heard about his political position on the judicial reform in Israel. I think I agree that courts need to be more balanced in terms of power and accountability.

Anyway, I am not only interested in his intellectual or political views but I am also interested in him as a person. I just want to get to know him and talk with him.

What’s driving a man that is benjamin netanyahu?

I hope I get to meet him before he gets too old.

Another thing. I saw his younger self in one of the videos where he debated with a pro-palestanian on a British channel. I thought he was much more aggressive and passionate back then than how he is now.

I think he is one of the most interesting people in our generation right now.

Some may hate him. Some may call him names.

But to me and many other people, he is Bibi.
